RECENT EVENTS Tyler Galbraith was recently successful for RDH Building Engineering Ltd. in opposing an application for Leave to Appeal to the B.C. Court of Appeal brought by Pacific Place Holdings Ltd. John Logan was recently a guest speaker on "New Developments in the Law of Tendering" at the Construction Law "Tips and Traps" Conference sponsored by the Pacific Business and Law Institute. Wes McMillan and Tyler Galbraith were guest lecturers at the Architectural Institute of British Columbia's Law & The Architect professional development course. Wes spoke on "Builders Liens and Architects" and Tyler lectured on "Bidding & Contract Award". Tyler Galbraith recently co-edited the chapter of the Builders Lien Practice Manual on the topic of Priorities. On September 14, 2007, Don Thompson and John Logan delivered the "Big Hall Lecture" on builders liens to British Columbia's next crop of lawyers at the bar admission course. Theresa Stowe was recently a guest lecturer at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law on the subject of domestic violence in family law cases. Bob Jenkins, QC was recently named a Director of and Program Coordinator for the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers. Dinyar Marzban, QC has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mike Demers was recently appointed to the Southern Interior Construction Association's Civil Infrastructure Committee. The 3rd edition of the British Columbia Builders Liens Practice Manual, co-edited by Bob Jenkins and Derek Brindle, along with Marc MacEwing, was recently released. It is considered an invaluable tool for industry and lawyers involved in Builders Lien issues. |
