Marissa Faulkner
Profile
Marissa is a family lawyer with experience in divorce, common-law relationships, parenting arrangements, child support, and spousal support, division of family property and debt, family violence, guardianship, relocation and adoption proceedings. Marissa approaches her practice with empathy first, through a trauma informed lens to best guide her clients on their path to resolution.
Prior to joining JML, Marissa worked in the field of traumatic brain injury. The privilege of working with individuals who suffered a traumatic brain injury allowed her to witness the first-hand effects trauma can have on families. As a result of this experience, Marissa is a fierce advocate for her clients both in and out of the courtroom.
While in law school, Marissa volunteered with Sisters for Change, a non-profit organization in London, United Kingdom that seeks to make justice work for marginalized women and combat violence against women and girls through legal empowerment and social accountability strategies. While in the United Kingdom, she also volunteered with Child Brain Injury Trust and here in Vancouver, has spent years volunteering for various sexual assault non-profit organizations.
