Lucy Chambers
Profile
Lucy was a summer student at JML in 2023 and is returning to complete her articles with the family law group. Lucy first became interested in family law when she was paired with one of Vancouver’s leading family lawyers through her law school’s alumni mentorship program. She was quickly drawn to the personal nature of family law and the unique challenges it presents.
At law school, Lucy volunteered with Dalhousie University’s Pro Bono program. She completed a placement with Sport Nova Scotia, where she collaborated with athletes and lawyers to create user-friendly versions of policies addressing maltreatment in sports. She was the President of Dalhousie’s Youth Legal Education Society and provided opportunities for law students to deliver presentations to Halifax youth on their legal rights in criminal and family law matters. During her final semester of school, she was selected to complete a court placement at the Nova Scotia Supreme Court (Family Division). She acted as a law clerk, observing a wide variety of family law matters and completing memoranda for the Court.
Before embarking on her legal journey, Lucy completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of British Columbia, graduating with high distinction. During her time at UBC, she was a member of the varsity rowing team.
In her free time, Lucy enjoys running, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
