Megaila is a trusted advisor to clients across the construction and commercial sectors, providing strategic guidance on contract negotiations, builders liens, delay and deficiency claims, and other complex disputes. She also regularly represents policyholders in insurance coverage disputes to help clients confidently assert their policy rights. Megaila has been dedicated to construction and infrastructure law since the outset of her legal career, delivering industry-driven advice that aligns legal strategy with the commercial realities of complex construction projects.

She has experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements including design-build and construction management contracts, supplemental conditions, design and consulting contracts, domestic and international supply contracts, and other bespoke arrangements tailored to unique project needs.

- Counsel for owners, contractors, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers in relation to contract drafting, risk assessment, and commercial negotiations.
- Co-counsel to a national contractor on a complex delay claim arbitration. Successfully obtained a $7 million judgment and got the owner’s $15 million counterclaim dismissed in full: CIMIC Morningstar Investments Ltd. v. Chandos Construction Ltd., 2026 BCCA 2.
- Counsel for owners in a property encroachment dispute and successfully obtained an order for the transfer of encroached land: 0907289 B.C. Ltd. v Fletcher Holding Inc., 2024 BCSC 2259.
- Co-counsel for owners in a builders lien dispute and successfully obtained an order for lien security at less than half of the lien value.
- Co-counsel for mass timber and civil works subcontractors and successfully recovered compensation on a complex delay claim relating to a large recreation center project that was delayed by over three years.
- Junior co-counsel to a design-builder in a claim against a structural engineer arising from hospital redevelopment project valued at over $200 million.
- Counsel for policyholders in insurance disputes including in relation to property damage, product loss, and loss of business income arising from insured perils.
