Profile
Megaila advises clients on a wide range of construction and commercial law matters including contract negotiations, builders liens, and all manners of dispute resolution. She also represents policyholders in insurance law matters as independent coverage counsel and in litigation arising from improper claim denial.
In her contract drafting and negotiation practice, Megaila has a keen eye for detail and works closely with clients to ensure that their interests are protected. Megaila has experience preparing standard form contracts, supplementary conditions, and bespoke contracts for various projects and real estate transactions.
Megaila focuses on delivering practical and business-oriented solutions. She has represented clients in the British Columbia Supreme Court, British Columbia Provincial Court, and private arbitration hearings. As a fierce advocate and a proponent of alternative dispute resolution when appropriate, Megaila also regularly assists clients in resolving disputes through negotiation and mediation.
Outside of her law practice, Megaila can often be found reading or chasing down the nearest dog.

- Co-counsel for subcontractors and successfully recovered compensation for delay in a complex dispute arising out of a $50M recreation center project.
- Co-counsel for a general contractor advancing a delay claim on a healthcare facility project and defending a claim by the owner for alleged delays and deficiencies.
- Counsel for owners in a commercial encroachment dispute and successfully obtained an order for the acquisition of encroached land: 0907289 B.C. Ltd. v Fletcher Holding Inc., 2024 BCSC 2259.
- Co-counsel for owners in an inflated lien dispute and successfully obtained an order for lien security at less than half of the lien value.
- Co-counsel for contractors, owners, and indigenous organizations for drafting and negotiation of construction contracts and easement agreements.
