Scott Booth, K.C.
Profile
Scott Booth is the managing partner of the firm’s family law practice. Called to the British Columbia bar in 1994, he has focused exclusively on family law since 2006. His practice includes litigation as well as mediation and arbitration, both as counsel and as mediator/arbitrator. Scott’s strength is problem solving and assisting his clients in resolving complex issues. This includes the unique circumstances of high income/net worth families, families with generational wealth planning, and families with interests in complex business assets.
Scott has been recognized by his peers as a leading family lawyer in B.C. including through Lexpert, Doyles Guide and Best Lawyers. He is a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.
Scott’s leadership in family law has also been recognized by the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia for the significant contribution he has made to continuing legal education. Scott is frequently asked to speak at legal conferences and has done so at the local, national, and international level. He is a prolific author of papers and book chapters, and serves on the editorial board for the Family Law Sourcebook for British Columbia. He also worked on the property division section of the transition guide published by the B.C. Ministry of the Attorney General when Family Law Act was introduced in 2013. In 2020, Scott taught family law as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia’s Allard School of Law.
Scott has long been involved with pro bono legal work. This includes volunteering with Access Justice, taking on select pro bono cases, and supporting fundraising for access to justice organizations.
